EMPLOYER AFFILIATION
Employer registration with social security is an administrative act through which the affiliation becomes effective qualifying them as social security contributors.
Affiliation is carried out by the social security offices of the Instituto de Segurança Social (Institute for Social Security) where the employer’s headoffice or commercial address is located.
Communication of the commencement, suspension or termination of activity
The communication of the commencement, suspension or termination of activity, previously addressed by the employers to the Social Security offices should be addressed by the Tax Administration offices to the Institute for Social Security from the first of March 2007.
In case that communication does not comply with the legal provisions or there is some doubt about the situation, the interested persons are not exempted from providing the necessary elements the social security services may require - Administrative Rule No 121/2007, of 25 January.
SOCIAL SECURITY SERVICE on line allows to provide information on:
- the admission of new workers
- the termination of the workers’ activity
